Today we would like to share with you basic tips on planning a robust home security system. The world we live in today has a lot of insecurities and we must take responsibility in protecting ourselves, loved ones, and properties.
Quality home security takes planning, fitness, and consideration of some pretty neat home automation measures. This means using a combination of sensors, lighting, locks, and control panels to provide continual security that can’t be tampered with. Plus, for the one that likes convenience and home control on-the-go, don’t forget to consider these options, as well… Just about every manufacturer has some type of intelligent home security system to make life easier.
To that end, the following are some things we strongly recommend incorporating as you are planning your home security system:
- Light things up. Be sure the exterior of your home is well lit, and that all entryways and windows are covered with a blanket of light. Further, connect your lights to motion sensors that will trip if someone tries to approach them.
- Sensors that sense danger. It’s a good idea to attach sensors to windows and doors. These provide instant notification when the circuit is broken, and they can be hidden so they can’t be seen from the outside of the home.
- Snuff out smoke and other hazardous fumes. It’s always a good idea to have sufficient smoke, radon, and carbon monoxide alarms. Remember, not every security threat comes from outside your home and these three are silent killers you shouldn’t ignore.
- Go wireless. Wireless security systems are easier to install and much more difficult to tamper with.
- Plan strategically. Place your control panels out of sight from the outside of your home, and in a location that’s easily accessible should you ever need to push the panic alarm.
